MALT MINUTES

RED RIVER COLLEGE

1. Meeting called to order at 5:15 p.m.
2. Motion to accept minutes from March meeting: Noelle – seconded by Karen.
3. Agenda approved by Karen, seconded by Sarah.
 
Business arising out of minutes: None
 
New business: Nothing at this time.
 
Correspondence: Ontario Association of Library Technicians conference coming up.
 
Executive Reports:
 
President – Nominations for MALT executives.
Brenda Wong – contact past award winner (last award was money for library technician) and get a write-up from them
Library technician of the year award – plaque presented at the Monday night reception of the Manitoba Library Association conference
Message board – distance ed. student wanted answers for her assignment (mostly found on website)
Add info to “About Us” section of the web page. Sarah will send this to Kristy
 
Vice President – Nothing to report at this time.
 
Treasurer – We have received many membership applications, including one institutional membership application
Bank balance: $1280
 
Membership – Have sent several renewal notices
 
Newsletter – Networking dinner: 15 people attended, door prizes were given, a good time was had. The prices at the Round Table were a bit high.
Next newsletter: Reporters at conference – a little write-up for sessions we attend
o AGM – How do we contact people before the conference?
Sarah will look into setting up a Yahoo! Groups account, separate from the MALT message board
 
Secretary – Not present
 
Web Designer - Nothing to report.
 
Students – Not very much response to requests to join MALT executive. Will ask Pat to give an inspirational speech for students to join MALT exec.
o After exams, RRC student access card will not work to allow us into the Library meeting room, possibly we could book a room in the library.

Library Technician of the Year Award Nominations
Daisy Santos, 25 years of Library technician experience has been nominated by Janice Linton, Allan Chan and Carol Cooke.
She will be presented with a plaque, free membership for a year, and a gift certificate from one of our sponsors (ie Starbooks) – Connie will pick up
Sarah will contact Janice, put her nomination letter in the newsletter
