Volunteer Manitoba Resource Centre is seeking an energetic and personable individual interested in a part-time permanent library technician position to coordinate department activities, to maintain and develop Volunteer Manitoba’s catalogue of in-house & on-line information services as an effective community resource. Position is for 2 days a week (15 hours/week).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
* Minimum, Library Technician Diploma or equivalent work experience
* Experience with web administration, certificate an asset
* Experience working with cataloguing software such as SIRSI, or Evergreen, is an asset
* Minimum 3 years of general library experience/research
* Related experience in community volunteerism an asset

QUALIFICATIONS
* Technical skills include working with Microsoft Office Suite including Email, Internet
* Research and database management skills
* Strong organizational & communication skills
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
* Excellent client relations a must
* Adaptability, flexibility

The successful candidate will be responsible for Acquisitions, Collection Development and Maintenance of printed materials, AV and online resources, as well as fast and efficient processing of research requests for staff and clients, and proactively disseminating new and relevant information to staff regarding developments in the non-profit and voluntary sector.
The Resource Centre supports members of the VM Resource Centre, staff at Volunteer Manitoba and the general public . It is an active partner in province wide library consortium SPRUCE. As such it shares cataloguing system and resources with many rural libraries in Manitoba and British Columbia (through a wider consortium SITKA), Manitoba Public Library Services, and the Legislative Library of Manitoba.
Volunteer Manitoba’s mission is to support groups and individuals in the voluntary sector to develop and enhance their capacity to anticipate, understand, celebrate, and meet community needs in Manitoba.
